Pasture Rangeland and Forage
Klamath County
The Pasture Rangeland and Forage Pilot Insurance program is for cattle ranchers and hay growers. Eligible acres are those used for grazing or perennial hay crops. The deadline to enroll is November 15th. If you don't sign up by the sales closing date you won't be eligible for the 2020 year. The PRF program insures against one peril, lack of precipitation. A grid is determined by your located acres in Klamath County. You elect either haying or grazing. A coverage level is selected along with a productivity factor. Coverage is placed in two month intervals throughout the calendar year by a percentage. If there is a lack of precipitation below the trigger index for the two month interval selected, then a claim is paid. Each grid is unique and placing coverage within intervals is up to the producer and when it is most important. In 2019 Klamath County had 222,687 acres enrolled in Pasture Rangeland and Forage Insurance.
